Who We Are
The West Midlands District Council of the Spritualists’ National Union (referred to herein as ‘WMDC’) is a regional subsidiary of the wider Spiritualists’ National Union (the ‘SNU’). As a registered UK Charity and Religion dedicated to spreading awareness and inclusion of Modern Spiritualism across the West Midlands region and beyond by way of demonstrations, events and at our various associated Churches, we take the confidentiality of our members’ data and information very seriously.
The WMDC and this website are here specifically to highlight and draw wider public attention the work done by the District Council, its Churches and all associated activity and events. This includes highlighting upcoming calendar events on our website, as well as a mailing list for those who opt-in to receive news and other member-related updates, including important information related to the regular committee meetings, including our Annual General Meeting to which all members are invited.
As a responsible, transparent organisation, we have no need, use or desire to use your personal data or contact information in any way other than absolutely essential, and to the extent you personally agree to.
In compliance with the recommendations and regulations of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), enforceable as of May 25th 2018, all members and visitors must OPT-IN before we will use your data to contact you, and we will maintain complete transparency within this policy and within our communication in how you can opt both in and out of any communication with us, as well as details on how to access what data we have on you and why, as well as request that data be deleted/removed from our databases.

The main purposes for which cookies are used are: -
1. For technical purposes essential to effective operation of our website.
2. To enable WMDC to collect information about your visitor browsing patterns, interaction with specific areas of the site, clickthrough to ticket sales and other important diagnostics.

What happens if I disable cookies?
This depends on which cookies you disable, but in general the website may not operate properly if cookies are switched off. This may lead to audio-visual problems and other complications with successfully navigating the site.
When someone visits www.wmdc-snu.org, we used a third party service - Google Analytics - to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.
We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to certain parts of the sites, the general geographic location of visitors and other important diagnostics.
This information is only processed in a way which does not identify any persons. We do not make, and do not allow any third parties to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our site.
When you purchase a ticket or other products online at , you will be required to enter certain personal contact information such as your name, address data, email and contact numbers via the eCommerce software on our website.
Any information provided at the point of ticket sale is essential in order for us to verify purchases, ensure tickets are posted or emailed to the correct persons, and also to have a means of getting in touch with the customer should there be any important updates regarding the event (i.e. cancellation or refunds).
Please be assured that this information is privately and safely stored on our online booking software, which is password-encrypted and is only accessible by the WMDC webmaster and WMDC secretary, and all such information will be deleted within 30 days of the event taking place.
Please also be assured we do not share any personal details with any other company without your express prior consent.
We expressly do not share any specific personal information with any third parties without express prior consent from the individual.
We may share anonymised personal information with other organisations, such as the venues of our events, purely for purposes of expected visitor numbers and booking levels. In the process of promoting and previewing our events with local, regional and national press and media, we may also cite expected or actual booking figures and other anonymised personal information and visitation quotas.
We will never share sensitive, personal or payment information with any other persons or parties.
As part of our efforts to keep members and visitors up to date with the latest news, event information and other essential updates, we compile a WMDC Mailing List that will be sent out to all members who OPT-IN and agree to receiving it.
How do I Opt-In / Out?
In order to OPT-IN to our mailing list, you must confirm your intention to be added to the list by either subscribing via the WMDC website, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the Subject or Body text reading ‘Mailing List Opt-In’.
Existing members of our mailing list must manually re-approve and opt-in to the list by using either of the methods above, or by responding in the described fashion to a special GDPR compliancy email that will be sent out before 25/05/2018.
Please note - from 25/05/2018 you will no longer receive collective mailing from WMDC until you have manually opted-in using one of the steps above.
You can unsubscribe and opt-out of our mailing list at any time by emailing email@example.com with the subject or body text reading ‘Unsubscribe’ or ‘Opt-Out’. You will then be removed from any mailing lists within 48 hours and, if you request it, your information will be deleted within 28 days.
Access to your Personal Information
Under law, you are entitled to view, amend or delete the personal information that we hold at any time.
Please email your request to our data protection officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All such requests will be handled and responded to in a timely manner, and by no later than 10 working days after receipt of delivery.

The Privacy Notice was last updated on 23/05/2018. It will be re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure it is in accordance with any updated legislation and remains accurate, and amended accordingly where necessary.
